An occupational exposure limit (OEL) is the maximum allowable concentration of a hazardous substance in workplace air to protect worker health. These limits, established by organizations like the CDC/NIOSH, OSHA or any country , are based on the substance's chemical properties and toxicological data, and are legally enforceable or recommended guidelines for a specific time period, such as an 8-hour workday.
